Showing attitude

Anti-human ideas in the form of hatred and agitation are on the rise in our society. This does not stop at sport: nationalism, right-wing extremism and religious extremism pose challenges to sport. It is more important than ever to raise awareness of the destructive power of these anti-human ideologies and to take a clear stand. At the same time, the promotion of an inclusive, open and
and solidarity-based sport and club culture, the basis of misanthropic ideologies is combated. This is also the aim of fairplay's newest area of work:
fairplay prevention - a contact point against misantrophic ideologies.

What does fairplay prevention do?

The aim of the contact point against anti-human ideologies in sport is to strengthen and support organised sport in its resilience against politically or religiously motivated extremism. The project addresses all sports throughout Austria.

As a contact point, fairplay prevention offers information and low-threshold counselling for athletes and their environment, fans and people from clubs and associations. Incidents of misanthropy and suspicious circumstances can be reported confidentially. Needs-oriented measures are developed together with clubs and associations. If necessary, referrals can be made to further agencies.

In addition, selected focal points of the BMKÖS sports section on the prevention of extremism will be presented.

The event is aimed at representatives of the major Austrian sports organisations, the professional and umbrella associations, as well as experts from the fields of youth and prevention work, science, journalism and all those interested in the topic.
