Job offer: Project staff at fairplay prevention (25h)

We are currently looking for an employee for the point of contact against dehumanizing ideologies

fairplay, the initiative for diversity and anti-discrimination at the Vienna Institute for International Dialogue and Cooperation (VIDC), has been campaigning for diverse and non-discriminatory sport since 1997. Together with associations, clubs, fan clubs, migrant and youth organisations, it develops and implements measures against discrimination, for diversity, for sustainable development & human rights and against misanthropic ideologies in sport.

The fairplay team is now looking for an employee for the contact point against anti-human ideologies for the prevention of political and religious extremism in Austrian sport. The position is initially limited until September 2024 - an extension until December 2025 is planned.

The aim of the project is to counteract extremism in the long term and remove the basis for it - through education and awareness-raising, educational programmes and the reduction of discrimination and the visualisation of extreme devaluation ideologies in Austrian sport, as well as by increasing the resilience of sports clubs and athletes.

Responsibilities

  • Networking and knowledge exchange with relevant stakeholders
  • Organisation and implementation of information events and events
  • Collaboration in campaign work as well as communication and information work (texts, production of brochures)
  • Collaboration in the further development of educational and awareness-raising measures for various target groups (including officials, coaches, athletes, multipliers)
  • Organising workshops, training courses and further education for multipliers (coaches, sports officials, social and youth workers) and young people (especially in the field of martial arts)


General expectations

  • Expertise in the areas of extremism prevention, countering right-wing extremism and/or religious extremism
  • Knowledge of the field of sports intervention and Austrian sports structures (especially martial arts)
  • Experience in project, mediation and educational work
  • Enthusiasm for promoting an inclusive and open sports and club culture without discrimination as a basis for combating extremism, radicalisation and violence
  • High affinity for martial arts (football is an advantage), diversity, anti-discrimination and fan cultures
  • Structured and independent working style, ability to work in a team, ability to work under pressure (occasional weekend work and travelling)
  • Good knowledge of German and English (languages such as Arabic, Turkish, Farsi, Kurdish, Chechen or BKS an advantage)
  • Good IT application skills
