SENTRY SPORT - Brand video

Have you ever wondered how many people quit sport because they feel discriminated against? Or whether the high drop-out rate of young people in sport (statistics from all over Europe clearly show it) is really solely due to tiredness, too much studying or boredom and not due to difficulties in feeling accepted after all?

"Girls can't play football, they can play with dolls" "Gays can only be dancers" "Muslims should do sport with Muslims because they have different habits" "We also let refugees do sport, besides, who pays for their house and mobile phone?" "Physically disabled people do sports and it's almost normal, but mentally disabled people don't. If they are crazy, how can they play?" "I'd be scared" "You're too fat", "You're too thin" or "Come here 'chocobo' swap places with little Paul" to hear." "I'm sorry, but it's not fair to change gender. Men who become women are stronger, you can't just put them with women later on..."

We did not invent these sentences, they come from surveys conducted in the frame of the Sentry Sport project, coordinated by UISP and supported by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union.

Instead of letting words and analyses speak, the project has decided to give space in a video to three exemplary stories that in a way summarise all the difficulties that young people in particular face in sport.

The video in English is subtitled in Italian, French, English, German, Greek and Spanish and was produced by ISCA. We would like to thank the young people in public service who volunteered to act in the video.
