Union Suben sets an example - warm-up shirts with fairplay branding

As part of our small projects pool supported by tipp3, new shirts were produced for Union Suben.

With new warm-up shirts with the logo of the fairplay small projects pool on the back of the shirts, Union Suben wants to draw attention to the importance of integration and inclusion of refugees in (sports) clubs at every home and away match. The shirts were presented for the first time before a home match on 19 March and the campaign was thus additionally promoted.

To support the campaign, both teams presented the shirts and the banner provided to the spectators before kick-off, made an announcement (based on the fairplay campaign weeks) and advertised the campaign on our social media.

The background for the (permanent) campaign is that Abdullah Dzhalilov, a young man who fled from Ukraine, plays with us in the adult sector and his younger brother Akhmad is part of our youth team. Both of them are very active in the sessions and are already well integrated into the club. Abdullah, in particular, has already learned German very well through his participation in the games and training sessions as well as the extra-curricular activities. As the "icing on the cake", Abdullah scored his first goal in Austrian club football at the reserve team match!

Christoph Schmidseder, coach of Union Suben: "As a club, we want to fulfil our social responsibility and especially give refugees the chance to integrate into their new environment. It's nice that such a commitment is supported by the fairplay initiative!"

Sebastian Stulla, chairman of Union Suben: "Union Suben is sending a clear signal against extremism and for a diverse and open society in which hate and hatred have no place - just as it did in autumn 2022. With our new warm-up jerseys for both teams and the officials, we also want to present our stance on the football fields every weekend. Many thanks to the fairplay initiative for their support in the purchase of the new warm-up shirts."
